CHAPTER 16: WE ARE FULLY FUNDED!

Prick Thy Neighbour’s crowd-funding campaign on IndieGoGo has been a huge success.  We reached our goal of £8000 and even managed to exceed it.  So, a huge thanks to all our on and off-line contributors, and of course Film London’s Short Film Fund.  Shooting begins in 5 weeks and we are getting ready to roll!

CHAPTER 13: FILM LONDON HELPS US BLOSSOM!

Fantastic news!  Prick Thy Neighbour has moved from being short-listed to being selected for London Calling the much sought after Film London Short Film Fund. This scheme (which will be supporting 18 new shorts from teams across the capital) is aimed at giving more opportunities to London’s new and emerging talent.  In addition to funding (£4,000), it provides film-makers with training and mentoring – supporting them every step of the way.  All 18 shorts, as well as the 6 funded under the London Calling Plus scheme (BAME), will be screened at the BFI Southbank, September 2014. We are honored and delighted to have Film London with us on this very wonderful journey…

CHAPTER 12: HAPPY ROSEBUDS – PRICK THY NEIGHBOUR SHORT-LISTED FOR FILM LONDON’S SHORT FILM FUND

We three rosebuds received such exciting news this week.  London Calling, Film London’s Short Film Fund, has short-listed Prick thy Neighbour.  Tara, Georgina and I will develop the script with them during December 2013 and January 2014, with awardees being announced February 2014.  It’ll be great to be a part of their structure – they offer mentoring and tutoring throughout the whole production process – and, if we are selected, the production will receive £4,000 towards our budget.  Fingers crossed dear rose lovers!

CHAPTER 11: TARA FITZGERALD MAKES THE SUN SHINE

The sun is out again!

We have a new director – ex Drama Centre classmate and friend of mine, the wonderful actress, Tara Fitzgerald!

When Philippa had to leave the project, Tara’s lovely face kept popping into my mind as a potential new director.  So I followed my gut and made her the offer.  She expressed a keen interest, read the latest version of the script and said “Yes!”.

Georgina and I are over the moon.

Prick Thy Neighbour will be Tara’s directorial début and we just know that she’s gonna do a great job!  Welcome to our garden Tara!  It will be a pleasure and an honour to grow roses with you!

CHAPTER 10: RAIN

And such is the life of an horticulturalist: sometimes the sun goes in, and it rains so hard that you have to start all over again…  Philippa has, with great regret, informed us that she is no longer free to direct Prick Thy Neighbour – upcoming contracts are going to clash with our planned prep and shoot dates.

This is a blow, but Georgina and I wish her the best of luck and thank her for her input and support thus far.  It has been a pleasure.

… Now, to find a new director…

CHAPTER 8: SUNSHINE

… But, I had an idea!..  I asked Philippa how she felt about shooting Prick Thy Neighbour in the Spring of 2014 instead and she said “Yes!” – without hesitation!

Sunshine, at last!

CHAPTER 7: ANOTHER THORN

Soon after, Philippa called to say that one of the contracts she had been waiting on (Breathless for ITV) had been confirmed, which meant that she would not be free to shoot Prick Thy Neighbour in August after all.

Ouch!…
